Where Does Dallas Go From Here?

sports dallas cowboy chearleaders A look at the future of the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys had the best season in a long time. Well, that’s not really true. They were 9 - 7 last year and they were 10 - 6 three years ago. So what do we have over the last 4 years?

The Unfortunate Mr. Irvin

sports nfl dallas cowboy michael irvin A synopsis of Dallas Cowboy's Michael Irvin's off-field escapades.

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after Plano police officers searched his vehicle during a traffic stop today. He also had an outstanding warrant for speeding.

Thankful For Big D Sports

sports nfl dallas cowboys play on thanksgiving A Dallas giving of thanks.

I am thankful that I live in an area that has 4 major sports franchises. The Stars are getting things together this season and if they continue to improve, they promise to be very competitive in the playoffs. The Mavs are off to a great start and will only get better as they gel under Avery Johnson. The Cowboys are among the top teams in the NFC and have a good shot at winning the NFC East. The Rangers are in the middle of what promises to be a very eventful off-season.

My Flight With Drew Pearson

sports nfl dallas cowboys drew pearson And the point is this:

Paul is a big guy and, on an American Airlines flight back in1986, I sat beside and chatted with a famous Dallas Cowboys football player. Unbeknownst to me, the player was 11-year career Cowboys player and three-time super bowler (1976, 1978 & 1979), Drew Pearson. During the flight, our conversation was interrupted numerous times. Various people came to say hello and wanted to see Drew Pearson’s ring – I thought Drew was a businessman. At the end of the flight, I asked Drew, “What’s all this business about your ring?” and “Are all these people friends traveling with you on a convention or something?” As embarrassed, as I was to learn of Drew’s celebrity, Drew seemed equally grateful that I hadn’t a clue, and no; these guys were not traveling with him on a “convention or something."

What's Wrong With The Cowboys?

sports nfl dallas cowboys entertainment More than you want to know about the Dallas Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys have a couple of problems they need to fix. They can't run the ball, they can't throw the ball, and they can't catch the ball. Oh and their players have LITTLE COCKS as was shown on this FOX news clip. (Oct 15th)

Devout Football-holic

sports nfl dallas cowboys playoff Cowboys or Jane? Hmmm ....

I am a football fan. A huge football fan...as in i refuse to make any plans (even work related) on Sundays during the fall and i tell everyone that it is because of 'religious obligations'. Calamity Jane has been well aware of my obsession ever since a severe miscalculation on her part led to me missing half of a Dallas Cowboys playoff game (a game that i am still positive they lost due to the lack of proper 'mojo' stemming from me failing to watch from my normal vantage point on the couch at home). The error nearly led to the end of our friendship, narrowly saved by what remains the first and only time that Jane has apologized to me for anything without first explaining how it was really my fault.

The Cowboy Book Review

sports nfl dallas cowboys For the die-hard Cowboys fans amongst us:

Over the years the Cowboys have picked up quite a nation-wide fan base… While I’d say the fair weather fans have all moved on (for now, at least… they’ll be back) a lot of the tomes that have been left behind from players, spectators and journalists have really made an impact on me and as far as I’m concerned, every Cowboys fan that reads. Here is a list of Dallas Cowboys-related books I’ve really enjoyed reading over the years.

Cowboy Stadium?

sports dallas cowboys nfl stadium Does it make sense for taxpayers to pay for stadiums?

My initial stop was a surprising article by Daniel McGraw at Reason Online. The article centers around Jerry Jones' successful push for a new Dallas Cowboys stadium even though he had no claims of losing money. In fact, this is a pretty clear case of Jones getting the public to help fund his venture to make more money then he already is making. Let me assure you, the public will not be the ones benefiting from the Cowboys' increased revenue.

There Goes The Neighborhood!

sports nfl dallas cowboys stadium A survey of the new Dallas stadium site:

The map of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium was released on Monday, and I finally got a chance to digest some of the changes on Tuesday evening. Once it's finished, I don't expect it will be a major impact to the ballpark, unless both are playing at the same time, in which traffic goes to hell. I've been around Texas Stadium, and the traffic is a nightmare there. The roads in the new area are going to be even WORSE, so I don't think I'm gonna want to be anywhere near the new Jones Stadium during gametime. That might seriously affect my Rangers...

How Sexy Is Too Sexy

sports football cheerleader fantasy If the Texas lawmakers want to bone up on cheerleader fantasies, they might want to check out American Beauty.

Texas, the home of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the National Cheerleaders Association and the Herkie jump (more on that later), may have put modern cheerleading on the map. But the Texas House of Representatives, concerned that high school cheerleading is becoming too raunchy, has approved a bill that would allow state education officials to prohibit "overtly sexually suggestive" cheering and drill team routines.

Anthony Thomas in Dallas

sports footbal nfl anthony thomas joins dallas cowboys Competition in the Dallas backfield? Not everyone is smiling.

The Dallas Cowboys backfield just went from thin to crowded with the siging of former NFL Rookie of the Year Anthony Thomas from the Chicago Bears. With Julius Jones firmly entrenched a the starter, Richie Anderson released, Eddie George released, RaShard Lee proclaimed a liability in pass protection, Eric Bickerstaff recovering from a torn achilles tendon, and neither Lee nor Bickerstaff established on the team, the Cowboys were looking at another season of Julius Jones and fantasy owners were licking their chops. When the ‘Boyz drafted...

Draft 2005: Dallas Cowboys

sports dallas cowboys demarcus ware drafted It is kind of a surprising pick:

With the eleventh pick overall the Dallas Cowboys select DE DeMarcus Ware from the Troy State University. I am suprised by this pick. Not a knock on Ware who is a fantastic player. But at 251 pounds, he is somewhat light for a 3-4 defensive end. I love the player though and feel that he will motor through it with desire until he gains the weight to match. I would have loved to see Derrick Johnson - that ‘catalytic playmaker’ that Parcells said he was seeking. Or what about big Shawn Marriman from Maryland? Well, the Cowboys had...

Fantasy Football: Julius Jones

football dallas cowboys helmet From a Dallas Cowboys fan!

As a shameless, unyielding, and downright rabid Dallas Cowboys fan I can say without reservation that Julius Jones will be my number one overall pick at running back in the 2005 fantasy football year. Jones was injured last year with bruised ribs and a broken shoulder blade for half the season. In the game where he broke his shoulder blade, he didn’t tell anyone he was hurt and tried to play through it for a couple plays. While toughness was a question early, Jones proved he was not one who would tap his helmet and ask for a breather ever...
